People are drawn to the sport of golf for a multitude of reasons — from the lush landscapes to the opportunity to socialize with friends, and their sheer love of the game. And luckily for Charlotteans, the city is home to a host of impressive fairways and challenging courses. Discover some of the Queen City’s must-visit places to golf below.

The Tradition Golf Club

The Tradition Golf Club opened in 1996 and has been a must-visit ever since. With vibrant natural surroundings, this par 72 course remains a hidden gem for North Carolina natives, with unique fairways and impressive water features. The best part? This lush course is located a short distance from Empire Summerwood.

Pine Island Country Club

This serene golf course is located near Empire West End Towns and is one of the finest USGA-regulated courses in the region. Inspired by the rolling farmlands of the 1960’s, these greens are continuously maintained and redesigned to challenge the modern golfer. Pine Island Country Club includes fairways and greens to accommodate novice and experienced players.

Providence Country Club

Founded in 1989, the Providence Country Club features fourteen tennis courts, aquatic and fitness facilities and beautiful dining areas in addition to their phenomenal course. This country club located near Empire Oldenburg is much more than a bustling social hub. The 7,021-yard golf course includes five par-five holes and eight par-four holes. If you’re looking to practice your skills before hitting the fairways, they also provide expert personal instructors, golf camps and a junior program to inspire new players.

Quail Hollow Club

Considered to be one of the most prestigious courses in the United States, the Quail Hollow Club has been the home of many PGA golf championships, and is set apart not only by its distinctive course, but by its impressive Southern-style clubhouse. The club’s challenging and beautifully sculpted terrain features a collection of green slopes that lead down to the lake. Try your putting skills at this renowned championship course a short distance from Empire Belle Grove.

Skybrook Golf Club

Located in Mecklenburg County, this prestigious semi-private golf course is located a short distance from Empire Landings at NoDa and has more than just rolling fairways. The popular Skybrook Golf Club offers incredible scenic views, along with dramatic elevation changes that make for a challenging round of golf. This championship course covers close to 7,000 yards of mountain-like terrain, complete with five sets of tees to guide golfers of all skill levels.

Worked up an appetite while hitting the greens? Grab a bite at one of Charlotte’s best barbecue restaurants. And if you’re still craving more great local experiences, then be sure to discover all that this charming city has to offer.
