The Top Patios on King West

There’s nothing quite like the combination of good food and drink among good company on one of the city’s patios. We may be biased, but no one takes patio time quite as serious as King Street West. Here, the patio experience is anything but casual with upscale outdoor spaces offering so much more than a quick bite to eat al fresco.

Check out our top list below and start enjoying these sun-drenched terraces and rooftops this weekend.

  • Portland Variety – This corner patio makes for the ideal place to grab a cocktail or coffee when the city warms up and people watching is your only to-do.

  • Valdez – A perfect rooftop patio with a swanky Latin American atmosphere and enclosed space for summer days.
  • Patria – A romantically atmospheric with white lanterns and glowing candles around its perimeter.
  • Gusto 101 – Gusto has two patios, but we recommend the rooftop with its retractable glass cover and minimalist-chic design.

  • Ovest – Grab a seat with a street-side view and order some top notch Italian food.
  • Thompson Hotel – Although not always open to the public, we recommend trying out this patio during public events, it offers a breathtaking view of the city and expertly crafter cocktails and nibbles.
  • Le Select Bistro – This local French bistro offers a front patio for the people watchers and a back patio for those seeking an escape from the bustling streets.
  • Buca – Hidden away, the Buca courtyard features brightly coloured chairs surrounded by exposed brick walls.
  • Brassaii – Home to a romantic cobblestone patio and an incredible Mediterranean menu.

  • O&B Canteen – In the heart of the Entertainment District, this lounge-style patio offers the renowned food and drink Torontonians have come to expect from O&B.
  • Citizen – A perfect transition from day to night, Citizen offers a happy hour menu that will take you right into after hours.
  • Rodney’s Oyster House – Freshest seafood on King couples with atmospheric outdoor eating. Need we say more?
  • Belfast Love – The spot well-known for its wall of beer, games room and elevated pub experience takes the fun outdoors with a wrap-around 110-seat patio.

  • Cibo – An Italian eatery whose wine selection is well know the city over brings the wine tasting outdoors for the summer
  • Lee – Enjoy the cuisine of International celebrity chef Sursur Lee on the street-side patio.

  • El Caballito – What screams summer more than tacos, mojitos and churros for desert. El Caballito’s El Patio gives you the best of Mexican cuisine in a relaxing outdoor oasis.
  • The Keg Steakhouse and Bar – A staple favourite, the Keg’s comfortable street side patio is the perfect spot for a post work rendezvous.

  • Lavelle – Lounge out on the cushy booths or have an intimate sit-down at one of the tables nestled around the pool, just be sure to take a second to appreciate the stunning rooftop view.
  • Luma – On the second floor of TIFF Lightbox, Luma offers a fine dining experience and a patio with a view.
