It took less than two years for Empire Communities to land on a list of America’s biggest homebuilders.
Builder magazine released its prestigious list of the nation’s top-selling homebuilders in May, and Empire made its first — and most likely not last — appearance on the list, coming in at number 187. Empire closed on 196 entry-level, move-up and luxury homes in 2018 to place on the list.
Well-known and highly regarded in southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area where it has been building since 1993, Empire Communities expanded into Texas during the latter half of 2016. Empire quickly grew its footprint in Houston by entering several communities there before launching a robust expansion into Austin and San Antonio with the acquisition of Centerra Homes in 2018.
“We knew Texas would be an important market and that our homes would be well-received,” said James Miller, Regional President of Empire’s Texas Homebuilding Division. “This is just the beginning for us.”
Empire is continuing its growth in the U.S., having recently started construction on models in two new Houston-area communities, opening four models in Central Texas last year and introducing two new Austin-area communities — Blanco Vista and Mueller — earlier this year. In April, it announced a strategic partnership with Edward Andrews Homes (EA Homes), expanding the Empire brand into Atlanta and nearby submarkets.
With such growth, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Empire moving up the Builder 200 list next year!
