On March 6th, Empire was proud to celebrate another milestone in our homebuilding history – the launch of the Discovery Home pilot project at our Riverland community in Breslau, Ontario. The project features five model homes – three of which were built to current EnergySTAR® standards, two others built to meet what we believe will be the future code, and most notably, our Hybrid Home which features the latest sustainability innovations, newest insulation materials and experiments in energy efficiency.
Empire executives, industry leaders and local officials gathered at our Hybrid Home to mingle and celebrate the remarkable achievement in sustainable construction over lunch. With a glass of champagne in hand, guests made their way to the basement where Clearsphere’s John Godden toasted to the ground-breaking pilot program and to the industry partners whose contribution and support made the project possible including George Brown College, ROCKWOOL, Dow Building Solutions, Clearsphere, Panasonic, Dettson, Vanee, Airmax, Renewability and Greyter
Sandy Chantz, Mayor of Woolwich, was on-site to present our very own Paul Golini an award to Empire for being named double Cross Boarder Builder Challenge winner of the Canadian Production Builder Award for the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) and Canadian Residential Services Network (CRESNET) President’s Award. Guests were then treated to a first-hand experience of the innovation within the home by getting the opportunity to use heat sensors to measure the impressive difference between the warmth of the Hybrid Home’s basement floor vs. a typical basement floor.
Empire executives, Discovery Home partners and local government officials were available to answer any and all questions while guests continued to celebrate this cutting-edge development that will surely impact how we approach the future of home building.
