EMPIRE COMMUNITIES ENTERS THE CHARLOTTE MARKET

We are pleased to announce that Empire has acquired Shea Homes North Carolina (excluding Trilogy® at Lake Norman), expanding our growing U.S. presence to include Charlotte, one of the fastest growing cities in America*.

Canadian-based Empire Communities launched its U.S. Homebuilding Division in 2016 in Houston and now builds and develops in over 90 intown and suburban communities in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, and Charlotte, as well as the Greater Toronto Area and Southwestern Ontario. Over the last 27 years, Empire has built more than 28,000 new homes and condominiums, offering a varied selection of home designs with thoughtful exterior and interior finishes in some of North America’s fastest-growing markets.

WHY CHARLOTTE?

The acquisition builds upon an already strong presence in the North Carolina marketplace enabling Empire to quickly ascend the ranks as a dominant player in the Charlotte market. The synergies in history and deep roots in family provide a common ground as both companies are privately held with strong corporate values and stability. Together as Empire Communities, the goal is to maintain a high standard of customer and employee satisfaction.

WILL THE COMPANY NAME CHANGE?

Yes, the company name will change to Empire Communities with the brand and all communities transitioning to the Empire brand early in 2021.

What does this mean for customers?

The North Carolina team will remain in place and will continue to run daily operations. All warranties will remain in place and construction timelines and teams will stay the same.

Empire will look to Gil and Mike Shea to lead the new Empire Charlotte division in the same manner they always have, with care for their team, homeowners and trade partners honoring the relationships they have spent many years building. Empire values community and shares the same passion for creating amazing places for people to live.
