When it comes to decorating our homes, you simply can’t go wrong with a neutral palette. Classic, sophisticated and bold all at once, neutral palettes have withstood the test of time for good reason — and it’s why designer Helena da Costa of Toronto design firm Twelveo5 knew it would be the perfect choice for our Greer model suite at Maven. “I wanted to use natural warm tones while still keeping an open feel to the space,” says Da Costa. “Warm ivories, brass metals and navy blue accents throughout create that desired uniformity and cohesiveness as you move from room to room.” Read more of Da Costa’s inspiration as you scroll through the space, and be sure to watch the video for a virtual experience of this striking suite.

Tour Our Model Suite

Light & Bright Kitchen

Upon entering the Greer model suite, you’re welcomed into a bright kitchen that’s perfect for preparing meals in, and an adjacent breakfast nook that allows for intimate conversations around the table. And while the home’s open-concept plan allows for ease of flow throughout the home, the opportunity for intimate moments isn’t lost. “What stands out to me about this floor plan is that the flexibility to create intimate areas is still there,” says Da Costa. “One of the coziest areas of the home is the custom banquette in the breakfast nook — it’s the perfect spot for morning tea or coffee.”

Sophisticated & Comfortable Living Room

The east-facing living room remains brightly-lit throughout the day and is perfect for relaxing in. Accent chairs placed opposite the sofa encourage conversation, while a chaise by the window makes for the perfect reading spot. “The open-concept floor plan means that furniture can be arranged in a multitude of ways to suit your diverse needs,” says Da Costa, “but don’t forget that the most important factor in creating a comfortable living space is choosing furniture that’s comfortable.”

Luxurious Master Bedroom

Luxe velvet, layered drapes and a plush rug underfoot makes the Greer’s master bedroom a true retreat. “Both of the bedrooms in the model suite showcase a feature wall using applied trim, which adds architectural detail and texture in a contemporary way,” says Da Costa, who worked with Metrie to bring depth and dimension to this space. “This is a flat-stock crown trim that’s very easy to work with; I applied it in a vertical pattern and alternated lengths to create rhythm. Painting it the same colour as the wall unifies it with the rest of the space while boosting the room’s visual interest.”
