There’s always an event or celebration happening in Gaston County, and living at Empire Camber Woods in Gastonia means you’re just a stone’s throw away from the action. From artisan festivals to sporting events, you’re bound to find something that you’ll be attending year after year. We’ve rounded up a few of the area’s most popular annual events so you’ll never miss out on exciting things taking place nearby.

 

South Fork Sampler | April 27, 2024

Each spring, this scavenger hunt-style event in support of the Catawba Riverkeeper features three physical activities to partake in over two days. Participants paddle, bike, and run to various checkpoints while enjoying the natural beauty along the South Fork River in Gaston County.

Summer Concert Series | All Summer

From May to late August, the City of Gastonia hosts a free concert series in the city’s downtown area. Local and regional bands perform music from a variety of genres, including country, rock, and jazz.

Fourth of July Celebration | July, 4, 2024

Each year, the City of Gastonia hosts a celebration at the downtown Gastonia Rotary Centennial Pavilion on July 4th where guests can listen to live music, eat delicious food from various vendors, and watch fireworks.

Gaston All American Fair | Summer 2024

Welcoming guests each September at Gaston County Park, this fair features carnival rides, games, live entertainment, comfort food and tons of sweet treats.

Merry Market | November 2024

What better way to kick off the holiday season than by attending a holiday market? Each November, this annual event in Mount Holly’s Grand Hall features shopping, dining, and a lineup of holiday events to celebrate the season.

 

 

Christmas in the City | December 3, 2023

Set in downtown Gastonia each December, this festive annual event celebrates the spirited season with a tree-lighting ceremony, live music, carriage rides, and visits from Santa Claus himself.

Birding Walk

Every first and third Friday of the month, join avid birdwatcher Gail Ice for a morning bird-walk along the trails at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Don’t forget to bring a pair of binoculars!

Gaston County Farmers’ Market

Every Tuesday and Saturday from May to October, locals shop at the Gastonia Farmers’ Market. Here, visitors spend time supporting their neighboring farmers and vendors, and purchase fresh produce, baked goods, and crafts.

River Jam Run Club

Thursday night means it’s time to hit the trails. Enjoy a weekly evening run from May to September on the Whitewater Center Trail. Following the run, cool down and enjoy live music at the River Jam concert series.
